S-230 Crew Boss (Blended)
The S-230 Crew Boss Blended Course is available to departments to host to meet NWCG and CICCS requirements. The S-230 blended course will meet the prerequisite for S-231 Engine Boss. The online course will also  meet the CICCS requirement for Engine Boss but your department and CICCS administrator must approve this version.

S-230 On-Line Course Portion
The program will ask you for a course administrator. Please insert my name (Jesse Quinalty) and my e-mail (jquinalty@redhelmettraining.com) as required. As you finish the unit quizzes please send me an e-mail with your score. If you need to retake a module it will allow it after going through the module over again. 

You must complete the online portion of this course prior to attending the classroom portion. Your completion certificate for the online portion must be e-mailed to me prior to attending the classroom portion.

S-230 Crew Boss – Blended
Complete the online component, including the assessment, by selecting the “Click to start the online component” link below (estimate 16 hours). You will be directed to the National Fire Academy (NFA) Online website. You will need an NFA Online account to take this course; follow directions on the NFA Online website to obtain an account. Search for course title in the catalog and add the online course to your “To-Do-List.” The NFA Online learning management system will track your progress.

You must obtain a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to receive a certificate of completion for the online component. Print the certificate and submit it as directed in your course selection letter.

Please make sure that your computer meets the workstation requirements as listed on the NWCG / NFA website before entering the course. Red Helmet Training is not responsible for computer issues and cannot answer IT questions. There are also tabs that can connect you to plug-ins and a help desk on the NFA login page of the website. 

​Once you have completed the online portion you can e-mail the results and register for the classroom portion.
