S-230 Crew Boss and S-231 Engine Boss (Blended Course)
This course uses the blended format from NWCG. The online component of the course is conducted through the National Fire Academy. Once the online portion is completed you will need to complete an additional day of instructor led (classroom) training to gain certification. This certification is for local certification only which will be provided by the fire department hosting the classroom portion. This certificate is not a CSFM or NWCG certificate but does meet CICCS requirements. Please check with your department training officer prior to taking this course to see if it is accepted within your department, zone or region.
Fees for the course are not applied until you schedule your classroom portion. These fees will be listed on the flyer for the classroom session.
Instructions:
1.Complete the online component, including the assessment, by selecting the “Click to start the online component” link below (estimate 6 hours). You will be directed to the National Fire Academy (NFA) Online website. You will need an NFA Online account to take this course; follow directions on the NFA Online website to obtain an account. Search for course title in the catalog and add the online course to your “To-Do-List.” The NFA Online learning management system will track your progress.
2.You must obtain a passing score of 70% or higher on the assessment to receive a certificate of completion for the online component. Print the certificate and submit it during the classroom day.
3.Instructor led (classroom) days are scheduled and hosted by several fire departments in the area. Availability depends on need.
